Particularly at our kitchen sink, it barely runs. We have checked our water heater and it has kicked in and the water pipe is hot. Tonight we added pellets to our water softner, which was low. We recently installed a new and larger water heater about 1 month ago, and now our water pressure varies when one machine is running like the washing machine or dishwasher but today nothing else was running and now we only have a trickle of cold water from our kitchen sink. Any advice?

I would start at the street where the main valve is. I have been called out on jobs and, for one reason or the other that's unexplainable, the valve to the main was turned part way or almost off or, in the off position. After turning it to "on" the water was O.K.

From here go to the water meter then the main in the home, where the water comes into the heater, make sure that's on all the way. Then go down the line without fail, check every valve and, make sure they're all on.

Then from here go to each and, every faucet and unscrew each end filter or screen and clean them out, use "the works" or something like that "CLR" something that will eat the residue.
Make sure each screen is clean then go to each valve under the sinks and check them.

If you have a problem with the cold water, then it's something in the line. Galvanized lines may be corroded and partially filled, mine were and I had to changed them. I put in all copper 3/4 inch lines and 1/2 inch take off lines.

The galvanized lines can fill, I've seen some almost totally and, completely filled with rust. You couldn't see light through them. This would be your last problem but, the most expensive.

One more point that I think someone touched on but didn't pursue very far. Some mentioned pulling the well point to check the screen. They do get clogged occasionally with muck and mud and sometimes corrode, develope holes and then allow sand into the system, which is generally a "kiss your pump goodbye" situation. However, it is possible that the screen could be partially or mostly clogged with gunk, which makes it difficult to draw much water through it. We live in the country also, have fought a low water pressure situation for many years and finally had the point pulled and changed and it's the difference between night and day. Just another item to think about.

Check the main valve to your house, and make sure that it's open all the way. If it wasn't turned all the way you'll have low water pressure.

Other than that, if all of the taps in your house are running slowly, call the person who installed your hot water heater and have them come out and make your water run as before.

I have just had the same problem, i had a new kitchen fitted with fancy spray taps, but they were for use with a combi boiler not single with a header tank, therefore the water pressure is reliant on the size of drop from the tank to the taps, i have had to buy a pressure pump which works brilliantly i now have really good water pressure
