As far as I know, anyone can go for a open day with out the appointment cos on that day they will only look at your height and total look, then make an appointment for the next interview if you are overall ok.
But if you made the appllication online or some other way, then they will not call you for open day, they will call you for the next interview. But you can also go for the open day if you have already applied online.

Emirates will contact you with at least two weeks notice for the open day
