collected from the car will finally be handed over to Portuguese police either today or tomorrow. but first they will be seen by 2 government ministries due to the "sensitive political nature" of the case. Where does politics come into the equation? The McCanns are the two main suspects in their daughters disappearance, why is this case "politically sensitive". Why have they been given special branch protection, Why is a government spin doctor on secondment from his government post to act as spokesman for the McCanns. Why is Richard Branson bankrolling them just at a time when his Virgin companies are working through a lot of negociations with the government ie Northern Rock and the lucrative property market that he wants a slice of. could it be a case of you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours. Just why is this case "politically sensitive" now? It wasn't when Murat was the only arguido? I think this is going to be a cover up?

This is the same question that I have been asking myself for ages now. What makes it so important that the Gov ministeries need to see the results first .Why have the McCanns got such a hold over the Gov that they are given special treatment ? Who was at the Tapas meal that night and is being protected ? There is certainly something more to this case than we all know. What is sooo big politically that even the Conservatives have been warned to keep their mouths shut ? I think there is a huge political timebomb just waiting to explode.Reading on other forums it is absolutely amazing just who Gerry knows..... people in very high places.
EDIT .... It has been known for quite some time that a private jet was hired on the evening of 3rd May (after Maddy's disappearance) and Gerry's brother was one of the passengers. I wonder who else thought they had better make a damned quick escape ? Apparently one of the trust fund panel, Esther McVey has a brother who owns a private jet. Perhaps the focusing on the Tapas friends and pact of silence was just a red herring to divert attention from who really was there. Thus Kate and Gerry are the culprits being protected by the higher ups.

I don't know where politics comes into it. It's certainly not fair that the only other arguido (who is likely to be cleared in the next month) didn't get this sort of help. I think the reason that the DNA is being passed is so that the British government know that the McCanns aren't being framed, because everyone knows that the first thing the McCanns will say if the results don't suit them is 'FRAME UP!' It makes you wonder what evidence the DNA experts have, because the last lot didn't go to the government, and that was when the 'set-up' claims started. The next few days will be very interesting, because these results could either potentially clear the McCanns, or leave them with a whole lot more to answer for.

I know where your coming from..and i agree to a certain extent that it all does seem very strange or maybe just coincidental !
However I just cannot think of a Political reason for a cover up....i mean this was a supposedly normal family holiday..what possible connection with the Government has the McCann's Story...if that's what your saying !
As i can't think of any Political issues between UK and Portugal that would warrant a cover up !
Maybe the likes of Clarence Mitchell and Richard Branson just do firmly believe their innocence and feel the need to genuinely help......but i also raised the question on here last week as to why no one jumped in to help Robert Murat in the same way..it's all very bizarre now..and you cannot blame the public for starting to question what is going on....however my gut instinct tells me that the McCann's will be cleared of all suspicion on the basis that even if they were charged they would never receive a fair trial......now won't that be convenient !
But who knows....I certainly don't !
Added to Avendrow:
I cannot recall one other case of this nature where the British Government stepped in....and the fact that the the British and Portuguese Judicial Systems are at odds, should play NO part in this case....after all this was a crime that happened in Portugal NOT here..and the Portuguese Authorities should be left to get on with it...i mean for goodness sake its not like they are a third world country with no recources...and with regards to the british and Portuguese media battling it out..well that surely is no surprise..isn't that what the media and especially the British Media ALWAYS do with no thought for anyone !

Politics should not be involved in this investigation at all ...
Maybe it has something to do with the "missing member of the tapas 9"
This case does not affect national security and i feel it is a case of the old boys network and the odd handshake under the table to protect someone who Clarence Mitchell knows was present that evening ..
I think it is to save someone from being publicly associated with the mccanns and that evening ...
As for richard branson he has gone down in my estimation and he has spotted an opportunity to make more money ...

Hi Trancebabe you could be right about the Political involvement Gerry McCann is a Medical adviser to Comare, a Government Commite which monitors Radiation in the enviroment but there is also the Nuclear Connection-
Gordon Brown's brother is the Press Officer who told Parliament that they would build nuclear power stations if the regulations were relaxed Gerry is the medical adviser to a quango who would advise on these regulations ,The quango also monitors Radiation from mobiles so it may explain Branson's willingness to help.

I can´t say it better than you. You are right, they are simple citizens like everyone else, the results must be shocking if the government is being involved. So justice may not be served due to political situations.
God! I should had become a Doctor in the UK!

Yes. This case has proved very interesting. Why? That fund was set up very quickly.
I personally dont know anybody that has contributed do you? or has bought anything tee shirts or wristbands. Why was it set up as a limited company? not a registered charity. Money was quickly into that fund,
now I know the public can be generous, but do you think that they were that generous?
I think to follow the money would be an interesting exercise.

This really does need to be seen to be beleived.
What political nature? Why on earth does politics come into a missing child case?
We need answers, this is the worst aspect of this case. Why are we getting spoon fed nonsense and, dare I say it, lucicrous, information about this.
Why does the goverment even come into it???

It has become Political due to Police Incompetence. A BRITISH child is missing and the PORTUGUESE police have done EFF ALL about it. That makes it the business of Politicians. Madeleine is a Subject of Her Majesty The Queen, and she has every right to Her Majesty's Government being an interested party in this case.
