Long before there was a Mariah Carey or anyone else, Whitney came on the scene and changed how songs are sang. Since then Mariah and a host of others all sound similar to Whitney. If you want to compare Whitney, let's not forget the day when she and Mariah came on the Oprah show singing "If you believe."
If you did not see it then go get it; it shows how far above in talent she is above all others. Do not judge her due to crisis in her life, what about your crisis? If you do not have any now, you will in the future. It's a part of life.
You might want to stop comparing apples for oranges. Whitney started it all, and on one can fully immitate her style.

I like Mariah Carey better ... she has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard ! Not only that , she's very pretty and her songs rock too ! My favorite song that she sang is "When you Believe " .... I mean everytime I lack faith in myself and I listened to that song , It gives me strength and faith to carry on .. =)
