I say it depends on the bill!!!!
And where you are dining?...(Fogo de Chao? Golden Corral? Ruth Chris? or Red Lobster?)
To me a large tip is 30%-40% of the bill.
If it's a smaller tab ($20 or so) then a generous tip is definitely 40%-50% for me.
But I used to be in the service industry so this definitely may not be the general consensus!

When I was a waitress I like to see tips more than 10% of the pill!! I say this because we do a lot of work to make you happy with the meal and sometimes we have to put up with @sshole hitting on us at work !!!!

15% is standard so 20% + would be a generous tip.

Well honey, it depends on a persons generosity though. To me, I will give a tip of US$20 to whoever I see though, i.e. Door Boy, Toilet Boy, Bell Boy, etc.
Cheers and have a nice week ahead :)

I gave a girl a hundred dollars on a 30 dollar meal.
What do you think?
And no I was not trying to impress her for a date.
That would be like calling her a prostitute.
I just felt like doing it and she was the best part of my day that day.
