christopher reeve a.k.a. clark kent a.k.a. superman. superman's my hero because i look up to him. it's one thing to have the power, but it's another to do good with that power. likewise, with christopher reeve, as you know he was paralyzed from 1995 until the time of his death, and he continued to be an inspirational to others, and that brings inspiration to me.

John Glenn for being the first man in outer space that had to be a brave thing to do. I grew up in the 60's and boy was the space program exciting for us kids, then. I had an uncle who lived nearby Kennedy space center and I would get a letter each time a rocket went up with postage mailed at time of liftoff. Also, Edison for all of his inventions that have transformed the world. I was reading that when he first figured out lighting that the whole world was dark at night except his lab. The only building in the whole world all lit up.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt - he saved America at the height of the depression with his imagination, commitment, and administrative abilities.

He then was a dedicated opponent of fascism and demonstrated this prior to American involvement in WWII by being a firm friend to England and Russia in their fight against the Nazis and by refusing to accept or condone Japanese atrocities and aggression in the Pacific.

During the war he was an adept and competent Commander in Chief and had the foresight to seek funding for the Manhattan Project.

Like most leaders he was human and had his failings, but aside from his abandoning the Jews of Europe; these did not detract from his very positive place in history.

because he started out as a sickly child from a dirt poor family and voluteered for service then consistently volunteered for dangerous assignments on the notion that it was his duty to his country and his family
in the end he became a very successful man due to his diligence and his hard work and his bravery

any person who places their life on the line every time they go to work. as an example, but not limited to the military, police, firefighters medical personnel, etc. we need to remember that all gave some and some gave all. these Ladies & Gentlemen are protecting our rights and freedoms allowing us to live the lives we are in relative Peace, Happiness and contentment.
