Here we go again with the Tax cut thing. Sadly many will vote for Johnny for a couple of extra dollars in the pocket but don't they stop and realise that no sooner do Tax cuts come through than prices go up and often more than the Tax cut that's been given.

Things like Private Health Insurance, utilities and food all rise soon after any cuts.

Stop and think people!

Where does it come from??? It comes from you and me. It's our money and I think I'd prefer to see it spent on issues that need the funding rather than doled out as a 'you've been so good to me, here's a little something to keep you warm at night!'

Oh, by the way, if any of you still think a couple of bucks in the pocket is better than nothing consider those on fixed incomes like the unemployed or pensioners. They don't gain the benefit in real terms of any tax cuts but prices will still go up. If you say that unemployment is super low then consider that a person is NOT considered unemployed if they work 1 hour or more per week. That's PER WEEK!.

With the casualisation of our workforce there are many doing odd jobs here and there just to make ends meet at the moment.

Once again the Howard government show their economic skills with the only tactic they know or understand. This is the most divisive mob you could find and what's the first thing they do to win an election? Widen the gap between the haves and have nots. The rich will get thousands of dollars which will more than cover the inflation and interest rises that these tax cuts will bring while everybody else falls behind.
What we need is for this money to be invested in health, education, universities and other infrastructure so that all can enjoy the benefits, but not only that we will be set up to face all challenges for decades to come. Wake up Australia. We can't afford any more of Howard and his uninspired mob.

I agree with our observation and will add this this government has gone out of it's way to throw money at issues in Tasmania eg The Mersey Hospital and local roads, then build 3 Billion dollar warships in SA (another state where the govt is behind) and now he is giving out tax cuts to all and sundry (If he gets back I doubt if they will materialise) Seriously where does the money come from?

Billions of taxpayers dollars being dealt out to the high income earners again is a insult to anyone that has to survive on the minimum wage. He should be ashamed of himself!

Please tell me what will the marginal tax rates be under a Labor Government ? Does Rudd even know ? Havn't they continued to come down under Howard ! And will continue to ! Remember under Labor paying 48 cents in the $ when the $AUD was 52 US cents ? Were now at 90.5 US cents, with low inflation, doesn't happen by accident people. Our debt is now payed of as well !

This is much like the old budget surplus strategy, why don't we underestimate how much we'll get so we look good to the people?
