I kind of see the wisdom in limiting the carries, especially if you remember what happened to Cadillac when Tampa overused him HIS rookie year.
The Vikings lost to Green Bay when they held Peterson back and they won today when they let him loose.

An NFL team should not rely on one person only. After all, Peterson is mortal, and can be injured. That being said, today was a remarkable performance. Childress doesn't wanna lose this precious commodity, so he would be doing the smart thing by closely managing Peterson's carries. What a shame it would be to lose Peterson, who sits among the best RB's in the NFL today.

Limiting his carries? Maybe. Chester Taylor is an animal, but he doesn't have 1/10th of AP's speed. Together, they are a nifty 1-2 package.

Now, he needs to stop having AP return kicks even if every time he returns one, the Vikings start on the 40.

well if you look at his number of carries today, he had 20 carries, less than half of the total number of carries. he was just extremely productive in his carries. but i think they're doing a good job with splitting his workload. he's returning kicks too, so that also takes a toll. yes, i think they should limit him a bit given his injury history and also his upright running style. he has shown he can be productive without getting all the carries. that said, he should get 15-20 carries and eventually get the majority of carries over Chester Taylor.

yes. being a longhorn fan and knowing all about adrian peterson first-hand, i can tell you he needs to keep limiting him.
Peterson is a great running back but he is very injury prone. He was injured quite a bit the last two years of his college career.
If minnesota can keep that running back tandum going they can be a very dangerous threat on the ground.

I buy it Childress knows it's only a matter of time before Peterson is carted off the field with a serious injury.

I don't believe Childress has a strategy, I think he's just wingin' it.
