In Japan, the first releases were Pokemon Red and Green
In the U.S. there were only two versions:
Red and Blue
Why? Green was considered Japan's blue version but then later released a Blue version. So Japan had Red, Blue, and Green version. The red and green version of Japan's were low-end graphics and so when blue version came out, it improved the engine and graphics. The blue version that released in Japan is the version that the U.S. use on the red and blue version.

There was a green, it was Japan only and it's the same thing as our Blue version
They kept Leaf Green for the GBA remake of it though.

Nope.
No green.
Red, blue, emerald, silver, gold, and yellow. You're probably thinking of emerald.
Emerald is a pretty shade of green. =)
