Document the incident and cite that the injury was caused by the Ikea Poang chair. A medicate certitifcate must be signed by a doctor as proof of injury. File the case in the court that has jurisdiction where you live.

No you do not have a case, and if you try to sue you will have to pay for not only your attorney's fees, but Ikea's as well (which are likely to be very expensive). You cannot sue a store for STANDING on a chair!! DUH... Chairs are meant to be SAT on, not STOOD on, therefore you did not use the product in the way it was intended so you have no case.
If I swing upside down from a canopy bed and fall should I sue that furniture store? HELLO!!!!
Just the fact that you're even thinking about it says a lot about your integrity (lack thereof that is). Get a grip and take some responsibilty for your own stupidity!!! The judge wouldn't even be able to stop laughing at you long enough to review your entire case.
Oh, and to sue even if you were just sitting on the chair and fell off, you would have to prove dire injuries requiring expensive medical attention. Embarrassment over being a moron is not a valid reason to sue.

Sorry to hear you had a great fall but the ball is more in Ikea court rather than yours. You need to be more specific about chair, technically chair is for sitting. Other readers are correct you will lose the case and lose case money too. Anyway take this as a great lesson, never use a chair to replace a ladder. Technically there will be no note for standing on the chair since its a chair. A chair is for us to use as a sitting tool. Regards

Chairs are made for bottoms, not feet, it's common knowledge. I don't think you have a leg to stand on. Was there a warning on the night stand to say "Warning: do not hit your head on this product when falling from standing on an Ikea chair"? No, of course not. What about the builder who built the floor? Did he give a warning about falling on the floor should you stand on another unstable object? I don't think so. If you're determined to sue, consult a personal injury lawyer, not Y!A, but I don't think your case will get a leg up.

what is common sense a thing of the past
You want to sue someone because you got hurt being stupid?
but yes you probably could sue look at Winnebago they have labels that say do not leave steering unattended while vehicle in motion because a man did he set the cruise control then got up and went to make a sandwich then sued (and won) when it crashed into a tree. because they didn't have a warning sticker.

first, why were you standing on the chair in the first place?
second, so what? you fell off, its your dumbness to stand on it anyway.s
third, did the chair collapse or did you fell of balance?
forth, would you sue someone who sold you something just because YOU fell off. i mean the thing didn't break.
fifth, are you dumb i mean come on? i mean so you got hurt, big deal, i don't go sueing ppl just because they sold me something and i got hurt standing on it. use common sense, just get over it. you fell learn from it. now you know not to stand on that chair. so you learned a lesson. don't go on sueing.

The fact that it is called a chair means that it is for sitting on.
You are unethical to say the least, if you think that you can gain from your own stupidity. Maybe the concussion has warped our brain.

Gold diggers. it's your fault for standing on a chair and you know it.
You should sue your parents for giving birth to someone so dumb.
Actually, Ikea should sue YOU for trying to stain their reputation.

You can sue anyone you want but it doesn't mean you will win. If I'm on the jury, you will be in serious trouble. Oh, that's right, it has to be a jury of your peers. . .
