Truth is, ALL children under 36 months old, boys and girls, when given free choice of play activities, will choose to play with dolls or toys with kindly faces on them. Unnatural and damaging beliefs related to subjective cultural gender roles, taught especially by fathers and other males, shame most of that natural social nurturing behavior out of boys by the time they are 48 months old. I had an early childhood nursery school for ten years. Educators, feminists, sociologists and mental health professionals are not nearly as concerned about females playing too exclusively with dolls as they are about the damage being done to young boys in the punitive shame and disturbed role impositions occurring when young boys are PREVENTED or discouraged from playing with dolls. Men who played with dolls as young children are less likely to be incarcerated in their lives for rape, murder, commit suicide or abuse children than are men who suffered psychological shaming damage for playing with dolls as children.

Boys play with dolls; what the heck do you think GI Joe is?
Indoctrination starts very, very early.
When my kids were in daycare, it was amazing how many little toddler boys played with putting on pantyhose and dresses in the dress up box, and how many fathers were horrified to see them doing that...and of course, the boys quit.
Children of both sexes should be given a variety of toys, and should not be discouraged from playing with them.

I really dont think you understand feminism at all. Feminists dont discourage normal play activities in their children. Its a normal symbolic play activity. Boys also dress up in girl clothes when they are 3 and 4 /Do manly men have difficulty with this I would hope not. Its a part of normal play behavior. Children as part of normal development both play in play kitchens both boys and girls. We should be happy that our children are developing normally. Take a few child development classes it might open your eyes.

A classic example of a loaded question.
Can you point to studies that show girls will inherently go for dolls and furniture over other kinds of toys? Maybe we should answer that question first. I'm not sure if babies would do this, maybe just girls who have been given toys like this in the past.

No but what does annoy me is that girls are pressured by the media to refer dolls like Barbie or Bratz!
Anyway prove girls "naturally" go for dolls.
There are many cultures in which girls do not have dolls!

I don't think the kinds of toys a girl plays with is all that relevant. As a side note, the radical feminisits discount any study that shows that infants gravitate toward gender specific toys because to the radicals, every difference is cultural. The evidence shows the contrary, that biology does play a role but biology can never excuse holding women back, discrimination, or bad male behavior. The mens' groups need to concede the latter point. Nevertheless, it is anti-intellectual to recite the bow-bow of the guru radical feminisis that discounts, as nothing more than a knee jerk reaction, every single study showing biological differences between the sexes.

They do? It totally depends on the little girl's personality & attitudes. Both my sister & I played with the more stereotypical "boy" toys.
edit: Also, I think it has a lot to do with the parents. I've seen so many parents trying to enforce the stereotypical girl vs boy roles.

What makes you think the girls will "naturally" go for the dolls? Lots of girls have little or no interest in dolls. My daughters never really cared for them and that was in no way influenced by me.

I'd hope not. We used to give my niece and nephew both kinds of toys. We'd give her a doll and a tool kit...we'd give hm a doll and a tonka truck or something, we didn't follow the boy/girl toy stereotypes.

mmm, perhaps you 'think' feminists would prefer males be the mommies? Inquiring minds would REALLY like to know -what exactly is behind a question like this?
