the book is stating it in radians.
you are both right.
you are doing nothing wrong :-).
48.5deg in radians is 48.5*pi()/180 = 0.85

Read as angle whose sin is 3/4
θ = sin^(-1) (3/4)
θ = 48.6 ° , 131.4 ° (1st and 2nd quadrants)
I have an old calculator.
Obtained answer by 3 ÷ 4 = INV sin buttons.
