Visit a few antique/ estate sale or collectible stores in your area.
You would be surprised at the items that haven't even begun to enter your imagination.
[Silver/gold pens, watches, jewelry, pictures/frames,antique rods/reels, tools, bottles, furniture and hundreds more]
You can also have something designed and created - go to the "artist" section of your city.
Then prepare something romantic to write on an a paper that he'll have forever.
[not cheating to get some text ideas from books or greeting
cards]
It's the effort and thought that will be cherished.
Anyone can go to a dept. store or order from a catalog.
Don't be typical.
This is the Best Answer I can offer.

As a guy, my favorite gift is when my girlfriend made a little "coupon book." You can just throw a bunch of random things in there and im sure he will appreciate it.. Some examples would just be coupon for you taking him out to dinner, movie night, back massage, maybe some more intimate things.. Just an idea that I like alot. It is alot better when it is homemade too. Good luck

I can recommend the following:
if you happen to be earning already:
- buy two tickets for any concert available in town
- reserve at his favourite resto for dinner by candlelight
- buy him new casual jacket or sporty watch and never perfume
- give him a bottle of wine
if you're still under the the help of your parents
- write a simple yet loving poem
- spend a day walking in the beach and sweim later
- watch the sun sets while having fruit sodas and crackers
- give him hugs and pecks on the nose

Before I met my boyfriend I joked that I wanted to find my Prince Charming because I was tired of kissing frogs. Just before our first Valentine's Day, I found a tiny silver frog prince sculpture and gave it to him for V-Day. The link is below. There are other romantic gifts on this site if this doesn't suit you.

How old is he? What does he like? Whatever you do, make it real and something that is purely from the heart.
