a lot of teams have names on their uniforms (either home, road or both) as a way to help fans identify the players on the field, as well as sell the jerseys. The Yankees, the red sox the Giants are one of the few teams that have kept names off both their home and road jerseys because they are a team that likes to embrace their longstanding history (names on jerseys are a relatively new phenomenon).
The Yankees also keep names of the jerseys as a way of saying that no player is bigger than the team - the only name on the Yankees' jerseys are the name of the team. The dodgers did a similar thing a couple years ago, when ownership felt that the players were being too selfish and not playing like a team. They have since relented and put the names back on the jerseys.

Great Question, in Basketball there are only 12 players and they all have no games during this time. Baseball can always change the schedule but they aren't as patriotic and caring for country as Basketball. By the way the owners of the MLB teams don't want to see their players get hurt playing for other than their own team.

It's up to the team. The Yankees and Giants don't put names on road or away jerseys. The Red Sox don't put names on just home jerseys. The Pirates seem to change their minds every few years whether to have names on jerseys or not.
As you can see it's the older teams that even mess with the whole names on the jerseys thing.

The Yankees don't put names on the back also because they were forced to put numbers on the uniforms.
The way the story goes is that soemtime during the era of Ruth and Gehrig, one of the Yankees (can't remember who) batted out of order and was called out. This cost the game for the Yanks. The next day, the manager put numbers on the players uniforms corresponding to the batting order. Thus, Ruth was 3 and Gehrig was 4.
If you notice, it's usually the older teams that don't put names on the uniforms. Yanks don't put it on any. Cubs only put it on road uniforms. Red Sox don't put it on home.

It's the choice of the team. MLB rules require uniforms to have numbers on the back but do not require names.

Because some teams have so many players coming and going, it is hard to tell the players even with a scorecard!

Just 1.4 percent of home sales in the county last July were considered distressed, and that figure jumped to 4.7 percent this year.
While there wasn’t enough data to parse out the distressed sale rate in Salem County, Gloucester’s showed a higher percentage than Cumberland’s at 8.1 percent, but that
represents a decrease from last year when 12.3 percent of the county’s sales were distressed.
