when I am surfing Firefox I will sometimes go load a page and in the middle of loading it will freeze, and when I close Firefox and try to re-open it, it will ask me to close it first before re-opening it!
the problem is that I cant and it even dispears from the menu on CTRL+ALT+DLT and am forced to use Internet Explorer or reset my comp.
i have even re-installed Firefox, what do I do now?
and yes I have virus scanned and all that.

No, Firefox does NOT have a virus. First off you should optimize it for best use. If you have a high speed internet connection, make your cache 4 Mb or smaller. You only need a large cache if you are on a very slow connection. Then go to Mozillazine and find the latest, greatest tweaks for Firefox.
You say you pressed Ctrl+Alt+Del and didn't see it on the menu. Did you look at the Applications tab or the Processes tab. Check the Processes tab - if it is running it WILL be there; there are many times that active programs don't show up in the Applications tab.
At home I haven't used Internet Exploder since Firefox was called Phoenix (version 0.3) and I don't ever plan to use IE at home. (At work, I am forced to use it and am amazed at all the crap on the screen that doesn't get blocked)

This happens to me every once in awhile, but it is always on the CTRL+ALT+DLT list (under processes - firefox.exe). Don't think it's a virus, just assume it's a bug or a system problem. Sometimes programs crash.
