some of you may remember my cry about my 17.5hp b&s engine not having a high power out put. the engine revvs slowly, and the mower bogs down whenever i go up a slight hill.
im using the carb from my old engine which worked perfectly. i replaced the fuel filter, air filter, and fuel lines. i have clean gas, and i tried adujsting the air/fuel ratio using the needle in the carb. i just cant think of anything else that would be causing the problem.
what else is there?

the hi-speed screw on the bottom of the carb is to lean, turn it all the way in using no tools, back it out 1 1/2 turns ,start and put it under a load, adj. screw until it runs smooth then back it off about 1/4 of a turn out, the idle mix should be about 1 turn out at the start, ck and see if linkage is not hung-up on the side of the carb. or govnor control.

Did you ever remove the carb and clean it properly like I suggested a month ago or are you still assuming that it is not the problem? These things are so simple that I can't believe that you don't have it fixed by now. How is the spark? You could try putting the ignition coil from the old engine on this one but I doubt that is the issue. You could also make sure the valve timing is correct but if you don't get backfire that problably isn't it either. Does the engine have good compression? They don't need much to run but the less they have the weaker they we be. Still sounds like a carb issue to me. Are you sure that you have no air leaks between the carb and the engine? I would go get a rebuild kit and some good parts cleaner and redo the carb. Did it do the same thing with the carb that came with it?
