well my gay friend looks like a man too. He says he's been gay since he can remember and his mom says she thought he was gay from an early age.
He's not a freak of nature. Gay people are that way biologically and were not traumatized to be that way. It's not a choice and it is completely normal.
As his friend you should accept him for who he is and not pass judgement, think of how lucky you are that he trusted you to tell you his secret. You dont have to agree with it if you feel its wrong, just be accepting because you wont be able to change it.
Just because it's different doesnt make it wrong!

I myself believe that being gay is pretty normal. One may think its due to genetic, others may think it's a preference, and others might think it's because of an experience, and it might just be all. For example, I might learn to like to be gay or force myself to be gay. Why? I don't know, people sometimes do stuff others might think is crazy, like freezing yourself inside a block of ice in the middle of the street. An experience could have caused it, such as a really bad relationship which made you want to experiment with the other gender. Also, maybe you just never had sexual encounters with the opposite sex and out of desperation, are willing to do it with the same sex. There are many reasons why a person may practice homosexuality, just accept it cause what does it matter if it's not targeted towards you if you don't like it.

Ask almost anyone who is gay and they will tell you they were born that way. Being gay is not something you choose (why would you do that when so many people think it's evil and immoral? being straight and 'normal' would be much easier).
The causes of homosexuality are unclear, but there are many known cases of homosexuality in other species besides humans. And just because you're friend doesn't look like a girl doesn't mean that he isn't gay. Looks have nothing to do with it.
If he's your friend, I'd say try to be supportive and understanding. Remember, everything else about him is still exactly the same.

Being gay is not normal, it is an alternative lifestyle and it is a conscious choice. Yes it may be caused by a traumatic experience or could be due to other causes, e.g. lack of parental love, rejection from girls in teenage years, sexual abuse. People who are gay may or may not look like gays, nothing to do with looks here.
No, it is not genetic, although they have been trying to prove this for years and trying to hide their shameful behaviour behind it but a search online will tell you that no studies have proven that homosexuality is indeed caused by genetic mutations. In fact, homosexuality has existed since the beginning of culture and people have opposed it ever since it started.

They are better than normal. It is a special gift of the Great Sprit when one person is given the spirit of a man and a woman at once.
You need to try to understand this question from a broader perspective than your own culture. Go to the Wikipedia and look up "two-spirit people." From the references there you will see that most American Indian tribes had between 4 and 6 genders. After getting some multicultural awareness of this question, try expanding your horizons by learning about transexuals, queer and question folks, and intersexuals. You will eventually come to understand that gender is not a dichotomous variable, but a continuous, multidimensional variable.
At this point your understanding of this subject is a the primitive level. I would avoid taking any action until you are better informed on this subject.

it's not too normal, no. Normal means being in the norm. Even though there's plenty of gay ppl out there, most ppl as a whole aren't gay. So nope, it's not normal. Is it natural? It's natural to the person who is gay.
I don't think it has anything to do w/an abnormal brain. No, they are not freaks of nature either.

Being gay is ABSOLUTELY normal. When I was in college doing my research for my Master's Thesis, I did it on 'animals other than human' to see if they had the same 'percentage' of 'gays/lesbians' as humans according to the Kinsey Statistics. EVERY animal we studied (and we did it for a full year for every population) had EXACTLY the same percentage of 'constant same sex interaction' as humans. If it was 'abnormal' or 'freak of nature' then ONLY humans would be gay ... but these days even 'gay' animals make the news, if you watch it ... there were two 'gay' flamingos who were 'mated' and were given a fertilized egg to hatch when something happened to it's 'real parents' ... they hatched it just fine, and started taking care of the baby flamingo just as any parent would. Tell your friend that you are sorry you made such a 'big mistake' and didn't want to believe he's gay ... and that he's correct, and being 'gay' is NORMAL just as being 'straight' is normal.

Gayness is a choice that people make . What if all people were hermaphadites ? They would make a choice as to what was attractive and I'm sure they would not all agree in their preferences . I'm not gay but have known several in my 49 years . Pretty sure each of them just decided that they liked the same sex for one reason or another and just went with that . They have just made the world more challenging for those who date . You never know what your getting because so many are in the closet that we don't know about . I hope people stop putting eachother under magnifing glass and just deal with their own stuff .

Us gays did not choose to be this way. We are not "normal" according to the rest of the world. This is because we are fighting against 90% of the population. Studies are still trying to determine what it is that causes this "abnormality". We are still humans, though. I personally think that it is genetic because I'm religious, but then again, that's debatable.
