They're both the same to me. If you're secure, you're safe, and vice versa. I can't think of an example when you're one and not the other.

Unless you're talking about the type of security where property is guarded against people with malicious intent. If that is the case, I choose safety first. Also, you should clarify what your definition of a word is when asking questions like this. It's either that or you can only expect to get answers like "They're both the same."

Safety is more important. Security needs safety too. If we are safe, we are secured. If you are secured, it doesn't mean that you are safe.
