If you do a search for United Nations Human Index report, you will see that when you take into account medical care, educational opportunities, and adjusted real income, there are some six countries that are more successful than the U.S. which are all constitutional monarchies. While we have democracy, we also have pork barrel legislation, lobbyists who try to convince lawmakers to endorse laws which benefit their employers, and often one set of laws - civil service, for example - established by our employees, the people we have elected to protect the American People and a second set - social security - for the employers, the people themselves which is said to be going bankrupt in spite of what we pay into it.
In a constitutional monarchy, they have a king but also elected officials to form communication paths between the people and their king and, as stated before, better medical care, better educational opportunities, and a higher adjusted real income, so that they are more successful than this country, Canada, England and so on.

Singapore,Tunisia,Jordan,U.A.E,Qatar..The list could go on forever.
In all these cases, the regimes have been wise enough to implement prudent economic decisions that have brought in great prosperity and wealth. When the people are living a reasonably good standard of life, they're not as likely to take to the street at the autocratic ways of their rulers.

It's good that you wouldn't include the US since it doesn't belong in your category.
