Well it's very simple. Since your sister was to foolish to organize and execute her plans of fabricating and selling "alc" in a manner that would keep them well hidden from your mother then, your mother is quite right.......Let me guess, she was gullible eough to ask her mother's permission? Yes indeed she should be severely punished.

Sweetie, you have essentially given up your life for your sister and her children. You have nothing to feel guilty about. Your sister blaming you is simply guilt. She knows that how she has led her life has caused great emotional damage for everyone involved. Victoya, is a different story. She is dealing with all of the emotional baggage that she has because of her mother. In addition to that, just look at her age. A child this age is rebellious under the best of circumstances. Any angst being felt by her is not due to you, it due to the very person she is running to. Her mother most likely lets her get away with anything she wants. Where you, have to be the "bad guy" and set parameters, say no, and not let her do whatever she wants. You stick to your guns. Do not feel guilty about anything. You have lived the most selfless life. You have a halo waiting for you. I applaud you for the person that you are and the chance that you have given these children. I shutter to think where they would have been without you. God Bless. I hope that this has helped you in some small way. Please begin to give yourself the credit that you deserve. It is very clear that nobody else is.

well I think it depends on what sort of alcohol it is, if it's one of those home brew 'kits' that can't really go wrong then no big deal especially if its something like beer, but some kinds of home-brewed spirits and stuff can easily go wrong and poison people - especially stuff like vodka.

I don't think age should be the issue as your sister is nearly 18 anyway, it's the safety aspect that''s more important.

but all these people saying it's a serious crime and stuff well I suppose that must be an American thing because I can honestly say if someone rang the police here and told them somoene was brewing alcohol in their garage they would probably tell them to piss off and stop wasting their time lol

btw I did some home brew grog once and it was disgusting - home-brew lager - it tasted like hairspray!!

Both are right in different points of view. Mum just doesn't want your sister to get hurt and your sister wants to be more independent. Mum should just let your sister start the alcohol business and see her fail to help her learn her lesson.

Absolutely not a good idea. There is a huge liability in bathtub gin. People in the Philippines drink a lot of home made liquor and the ones that don't die, end up permanently blind. Sounds like modern art to me.

I suppose it would probably help if you explained that you don't live in the U.S. and the U.S. laws don't apply.

Well I hope some one brought up the point that prohibition is over. That being said it's a lot better of an idea than what I've grown In my garage.

It should be said it is illegal for a minor child to manufacture and sell liquor in all 50 states. Also it is illegal to sell it without a liquor license in all 50 states. If she is caught the house gets taken by the ATF. Not a good idea.

Mom's right in this case. She could get in trouble for selling alcohol to minors. Even IF she isn't the seller.

It does not matter who is right. Your sister is a minor. It is your mother's decision whether to allow a crime to be committed in her home or not.
