Its only illegal if you are not buying it.

It is illegal because you do not have the rights to have a copy of what you are downloading buying the cd means you get the right to have thats cds music when you download it you are takeing it without paying...like that stops me from downloading music lol hahahahah

Because musicians make money when you purchase their music. If you download it for free, they don't get paid. You are stealing the profit from them, just like if you walked into a store and took a CD without paying for it. If you want more details, look up copyright law (the laws protecting art and music) and copyright infringement (the crime you commit when you download music without paying for it).

Why should it be legal?
The sharer/uploader is wrong because it wasn't his/hers to share...
And downloaders are wrong because they're aiding/abetting a crime.
