Asking them to show restraint by not invading northern Iraq to chase down PPK terrorists must be a seriously bad joke surely.

I am not saying Turkey should go ahead with military action but, coming from Mr Bush and Ms Rice this sounds very hypocritical in every sense.

Ro Vale to say Turkey is not a major ally in the war in Iraq is folly 70% of all fuel, weapons, food etc for the US operation in Iraq goes via Turkey. They are probably one of the biggest allies American has in Iraq. Turkey is also a fully payed up member of NATO in every sense of the treaty.

Turkey is not a particularly strong ally in this case. That country didn't really support the invasion of Iraq but they also don't want an independent Kurdish nation to be established in the northern part of that country. I'm not really sure why a resolution was passed condemning Turkey for the massacre of Armenians in 1915, unless someone is trying to draw Turkey into this conflict by passing a resolution they knew would piss this country off.

No, they have supported all the repressive Turkish governments just as they used to support Saddam Hussein in the 1980s .

We can only suggest a political solution to Turkey. We cannot make them do anything they don't want to do. We have various important inducements, however, Turkey will make up its own mind.

The Kurd terrorists are probably working for the Bush administration.

If the Kurds can pull Turkey into the war, they can destabilize the region enough to pull Iran into Bush's war.
