I read some group wants to impose sanctions because China eats cats and dogs. Aw, well, with the size of their population they may need to eat cats and dogs to stay alive. Right now, they are spending money to get ready to go to the moon. Wouldn't it make more sense to send marmalade to China instead of foreign aid?

We westerners frown on countries who eat dogs and cats because we have them as pets. We eat beef which the Hindus of India consider as sacred. We eat pigs which the Muslims regard as dirty food. I think we should leave China and other countries to their own customs.

Does anyone really believe you can humanely kill anything ??
You really think the cows, goats, lambs, chickens and hogs we eat every day in america are humenely slaughtered ?
It's not like the chinese torture the cats and dogs before they eat them.
They cut thier throats or bash em in the head, just like people have for the last 20,000 years.
Get over it already, they are animals.
Why else do you think humans have sharp teeth in the front of our mouths ??
To eat meat.
If we were suppossed to eat all fruits and veggies, we would have teeth like a cow, all molars.
Whats next, they gonna start whining about using nerve agents against roachs ???

Chinese from China has a phrase like "Can eat any animal which their back is facing the sky"... Including cats, squirrel, tortoise, bears, snakes and dogs. Its nothing to do with their population..

Q.S.C. has it correctly; the inhumane slaughter is the key.
Tradition, stemming from economic necessity has led to these practices.
As long as the consumption persists it may be best to provide efficient means killing until such time as other preferable protein sources displace the current situation.

eating dogs and cats is a cultural issue... why don't impose sanctions also for countries eating pigs, cows, chickens, etc..

My husband is from Korea, and loves dog meat. It's one of his favorite foods. Obviously, we don't eat it here.
It's different than just picking a dog off the street and eating him. You don't eat the pets. There are farms. Just like you eat a cow from a farm.
