I cannot ( actually do not want to ) give you a comprehensive answer, however, I can tell you that your hypothesis does not apply to the relations between Turkey and the USA ( or the UK ).
The issue is never put on the table, whether there is something they want or not.
For example, Turkish parliament rejected the resolution the USA had demanded on Iraq issue. The issue was not even mentioned once. Turkish parliament can do whatever MPs want.
PS If you really want to know the history, the only thing you need to do is to make a search for it, not to make conspiracy theories.

Turks live in North Cyprus for more than 800 years...
Americans ( from European origins) live in America only since the XVIth century.
