They can ONLY work if both people are TOTALLY COMMITTED to the future development of the relationship. I met and fell in love with my wife online 12,500 miles away! We are together now at the same place. Honesty and trust must also be a part of any lasting relationship. She would NEVER have known about it if I had chosen to spend time with other women while she was so far away,,,,,but I would have known it FOREVER!

I personally wouldn't want to be in one because I would miss the physical contact with him. But if I found someone that I truly felt connected to and I wanted to get to know better, I would try it. I'm not saying that it would be easy, but I would try. I think there will have to be a lot of phone calls, email messages and plane trips to see each other.

Sometimes you just can't be in the same place due to circumstances, but if we were truly meant to be together, we would find a way to work it out. Love will prevail. Besides, when you finally get to physically be together, I think the closeness will be magical.

Best wishes!

They CAN Work .. and I am in one right now! My special someone is at his home .. and I am a couple of thousand miles away ... getting my home renovations finished, so that I can sell my home and MOVE closer to my Family (and guess what -- it just so happens that I'll also be close to him as well!).

Plus ... My siblings do HAVE Long Distance Relationships that work .. both have married very Generous, Kind, and Loving spouses ... are SERVING in the US Armed Forces, have experienced MULTIPLE deployments, and yes, these wonderful spouses of theirs have supported their Service Careers .. which is a blessing.

I await seeing my special someone this Christmastime ... and believe me, we are going to definitely be enjoying being together for sure!

Do-able with faith and a lot of communication.
If it starts out that way then you may be in for a surprise when you finally are together and have to deal with each other on a day to day basis.
And if you started together and then had to live apart you miss the day to day sharing, and then eventually learn to live without the daily face to face. It then may go to my first point of surprise when you are back together.

It can be a good thing if you cant be together. It takes alot of work but if you really want it you can make it happen.
