I've not been in that situation before so i did a search on google for you. Here's the URL of a video which explains, step by step what you must do initially, through to the last step of making an official complaint at The deparment of Environment, who then will take up your case.

The "polite" has ended.

Try this ... go to the cop shop and file a formal complaint. Be sure to get copies. OK now that has been taken care of, next thing to do, every time the "jerks" play loud music call the cop shop. Keep calling each and every time they play the loud music. If it's three times a day with loud music, then there are three calls to the cop shop, etc. etc. Pretty soon coppers will get pist and pull the plug.

Husband and his partner threw the stereo out the window because of a noise complaint. Never had to go back again. Sometimes you have to "do" to people for who they are. Don't tell my husband I told you that. Thanks!

Another idea .... if you have a lawn mower, leaf blower. etc. start getting busy (Sat. or Sunday) at 6:00 AM. Maybe you would want to warn your other neighbors before hand.

Call your Alderman (don't know where you live) with your complain. After all he/she was voted into office. There are laws regarding loud noise. If Alderman does nothing, get out the picket signs. Same goes for the Council. Picket signs can say a lot. Gather all family members, friends who are willing to carry a sign and do a little walking.

These "jerks" next door, do they own or rent? If they are renters, find out who they're renting from. You know the rest to that one.

Don't get physical. You may be biting off more than you can chew. Besides your wife needs at home, not in the slammer.

I sure do have a devious mind! Sometimes I scare myself.
Landlord, picket signs would be my first picks.
Remember, don't get hurt or hurt someone else.

Seeing as your not getting any sleep play them at their own game.Try to enlist the help of a neighbour, preferably the neighbours that live the other side of the noisy ones.Play loud music, slam doors in unison, sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.If this still doesn't work record the evidence(eg excessive noise, time and date it)the council will have to take notice then.Try and get other neighbours onside and it may well help your wife to realise shes not alone.
Good luck mate, but if it was me,I'd probably pay someone to go round and have a word wink wink.

It amazes me how inconsiderate people are:-

I would reccomend making noise when they sleep - see how they like it.

If they make a noise late at night place your stereo speakers next to the walls 1st thing in the morning!

After that relations will hit a new low so invest in some earplugs - something will have to give after a few days of that.

Good luck

You have my sympathy because I had this problem - twice, in the same flat!.
My method of solving this problem was to get a diary from the council and record every bang, thump, swear word they used. So if they call you a f u c khead or c u n t, write it down and keep on at the council with phone calls and letters etc.
A pyromaniac solved my problem, hush.hush, say no more.....

keep a diary of when this happens over a period of one month, keep photo copied copies of notes you have sent them and record the days you ask them verbally to shut up. then tell the council you have recorded evidence of the times you have needed to ask them to be quiet and get in touch with the police again who may issue a "disrupting the peace" order. If all else fails, do as you feel neccessary! Good luck!

I used to have noisy neighbours & they drove me to tears sometimes through lack of sleep so I know how you feel, I wanted to kill them at times. I contacted my local council (the police don't deal with noise anymore) & the environmental health people dealt with it. They contact the people involved & warn them of possible consequences, (court, removal of stereo, eviction etc). They won't take serious action against your neighbours if it's just you complaining though so speak to other neighbours, see how they feel. And keep a noise diary. Hope that helps.

Your coucil is legally bound to help you with this problem under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 which governs anti-social behaviour and defines anti-social behaviour as "behaviour , whether or not in itself criminal that causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to other people".
Find out who your local councillor is and approach them personally to get his support.
The council should give you an Anti-social Behavior Diary to record specific incidents that have directly affected you.
You must be meticulous and honest in keeping this diary as it could be used as evidence in court.
If this behaviour affects anybody else get their support as witnesses.
You have to record the date, location , time started, time ended.Details and names and addresses of perpetrators if known and how the incident affected you.
Tell the coucil they are acting illegally in not helping you and they are leaving themselves liable to legal action. That usually gets their attention.
The trouble is a lot of these organisations are run by idiots.
Good luck

Put up a notice saying 'I am a noisy neighbour' on their front door. Use a good adhesive. Lol

Don't leave finger prints behind though! lol

Call the police next time, if its past 10 pm. (when the notice aint there)

Good luck mate!
