7x^2 - 9x - 10 = 0

This simplified is

(7x + 5)(x - 2) = 0

So x = -5/7 and 2

Hope that helped

7 x ² - 9 x - 10 = 0
( 7x + 5 ) ( x - 2 ) = 0
x = - 5 / 7 , x = 2

The first thing you need to do on this type of equation is factor it. To do this you need to find two numbers which multiply to -10 and add up to -9.

So... +1 and -10 look good to me. -10 times +1 = -10 and -10 plus +1 = -9.

So, your equation would factor like this:

(x+1)(x-10) = 0

For that to equal zero, one or the other (or both) must be equal to zero itself.

If x+1 equals zero, x would equal -1. If x-10 equals zero, x would be 10. So, your roots are 10 and -1...

Those are also the two possible answers for x...

x = -1 and/or 10

I hope that helps...try doing some on your own...

I promise that math gets easier as you work at it longer. It's just like sports or running. You can't run that far or that fast at first but as you keep trying and keep pushing yourself (and never give up!), you can run further and further. Eventually you'll be able to do math like it was nothing. You just have to keep excercising your brain! It is just like a muscle, sorta - the more you excercise it, the stronger it gets.

Keep at it!! Never give up.
