Some people use it to cure tummy aches. I don't know how, but I've heard of people giving this to their babies.

Chamomile is a natural sedative...however, since it is an herb, I wouldn't recommend giving it to a newborn without talking to a doctor first. What people don't always realize, is that herbs can have side effects similar to perscription drugs. They can seriously react with body chemicals or medication that someone is one. I'm sure some homeopathic people are going to praise the idea of giving herbs to newborns because they are natural, and natural is good! It's not always.

Also, some tea has naturally occuring caffiene in it...you definately do not want to start a newborn on caffiene. Just consult with a doctor first.

Chamomile Flower (Matricaria recutita)

Chamomile is considered safe by the FDA, with no known adverse effects in pregnancy, lactation, or childhood. Chamomile tea is commonly used by nursing moms for relaxation. It can also be used to prevent/fight off fungal infections. Patients with severe allergies to ragweed should be warned about possible cross-reactivity to chamomile and other members of the aster family (e.g., echinacea, feverfew, and milk thistle). It should not be taken in conjunction with other sedatives, such as benzodiazapines or alcohol. More info can be found in the article, A Review of 12 Commonly Used Medicinal Herbs.

Maybe it's the formula making her gassy? First I would try Gripe water or Mylicon drops. They sell them everywhere and also do continuous burping. I have heard of using chamomile tea, but I'm not sure about the amounts. Ask her doctor first. good luck

You should talk to your doctor before you give your baby anything, but here are some articles about chamomile tea for infants.

Chamomile can cause allergic reactions, too, so make sure you keep that in mind when you talk to your doctor and make your decision.

usually the chamomile tea that you find in most grocery stores have other thiings in them that I would not give a baby... plus there is no indication of a dosage. If you're interested in chamomille for fussiness and teething, I'd give some of the teething pellets/tablets.

for tummy issues, I'd stick with gripe water.

so regular chamomile tea? I wouldn't give it to a child under a year old.

A newborn? Not a good idea. Not unless extremely diluted. Chamomile tea has also been linked to some increase in ragweed allergy so be careful.

If your baby has a tummy ache, ask a pharmacist what to recommend. If that doesn't work, and you want to try the chamomile, talk to your pedi. I also have heard of it, but have never tried it. When did your baby have her/his last bowel movement? Might I suggest a belly message with some baby lotion?? Also lay her/him on her/his back and move her/his legs in a motion like she/he is riding a bicycle. That helps relieve the air trapped. Hugs and Belly rubs coming your way!

My daughter had a touch of colic, and my pediatrician suggested Gripe Water by a company called Gentle Care. It has ginger root extract, fennel seed extract, and chamomile flower extract, as well as water, fructose, glycerin, and citric acid. I'm glad I haven't thrown the bottle away yet, or I never could've told you that! I would trust this more than a home-brewed tea, since it's made esp for babies. Search for "gripe water", research the brands, and choose one. Good luck! ***Oh, and make sure you run it by your own pediatrician first!

NO! There are only two things you should ever give your child your breastmilk or formula. If you think the baby has a tummy ache try gripe water or gas drops that are DESIGNED FOR INFANTS. Never give the baby anything that isnt made especially for them it is much to dangerous, and run everything by your pedi first.
