at the moment it seems like the initial invasion of iraq. truthfully regardles on who ends in office, democrat or republican, it will be too difficult to pulll the troops out soon.

The ideal solution would be to listen to what the American people have to say about the two options and act accordingly.
Compare to the situation in Vietnam, we are at a better situation to leave Iraq now than when we left Vietnam. But whatever we do with the Iraq situation, we will always be blamed for it.
I believe that by leaving too soon will have a lesser negative effect than we keep staying in Iraq and the rest of the world claiming to our belief that "we are the good guys" and "we are always right" and "not a bit of our action over there is responsible for the increasing hatred toward the US". We refuse to listen to what they have to say and we do not believe their reasons for hating us. We are the "good guys" and still not 100% of our people are behind our actions, what rights do we have to say that our involvement with the world will not have any negative effect on us? Whether or not we believe that they have "logs in their eyes", we need to start accepting that we have "specks in our eyes". Whether it's Iraq, Iran, or any other nations, the hatred toward Americans will not go away until we accept that we have some responsibilities in it and act upon it to improve ourselves.

Ask again in thirty years, or fifty. Until we see what becomes of Iraq, we're all just guessing. My personal favorite is neither, but a third criticism: that having gone in "with the army we had" we did too little for too long to change that, while making almost every mistake that could be made in restructuring the Iraqi military and paramilitary forces.

I think we will find out the amount of destruction the US has been holding back by our presence there has been somewhat exaggerated. I think the only people who will claim pulling out was a mistake are neocons who wish to a global US empire and every step away from that will be considered a mistake by them.
A large portion of the country has either been killed or fled as refugees, I just don't see how pulling out of Iraq can make things significantly worse then they already are. The invasion of Iraq will no doubt go down as one of the worst mistakes in presidential history.
CFB: No yellowcake uranium or tubes usable for nuclear weapons has ever been found despite what Fox news may have told you. The shells were remains from the Iran-Iraq war, stuff that the US had given Iraq and far out of date, in other words no potential threat and certainly no excuse to invade Iraq. I also don't know where you got 1500 shells from, heres a link pointing out they weren't part of a secret cache though.

The invasion... history will record what really happened and why and how.. and the lies that led to it.... maybe not in my lifetime.. but sometime.. then people will know this was a manufactured war.. made for the oil companies and big business. Had nothing to do with democracy or helping the Iraqi people.
history will also record.. what really happened on 9/11 !

If Iran invades northern Iraq and then spreads south, it will be seen as leaving too soon and a huge blunder. I could also see them invading Afghanistan and end up engaging Pakistan. Nuclear weapons will be discharged. Remember, Iran is a theocracy and the dictates of religious zealots goes.
That's the prediction of the mutant and it get's much worse if India is brought into the conflict.

It will either be a "toss up" or both will be lumped into the same pile a just a huge blunder.
Shortly after the invasion, there was a window of opportunity that would have left Iraq with a functioning government. Instead, we ousted EVERY politician, military leader, and police commander. That left us holding a ball that just won't roll.

Longhaired what ever you sir are a traitor and hopefully the lord will reward you appropriately.
The original invasion was legal on several points most that have been drowned out by noisy fools and damn traitors.
We did locate several tons of yellow cake uranium and centrifuges. All used to make nukes.
There were over 1500 chemical artillery shells Some with sarin some mustard
