Don't divide by x. That will remove one of the possible solutions.
Add 10x to both sides to get
x^2 + 10x = 0
factor
x*(x+10)= 0
so x = 0 or x = -10

x² + 10x = 0
(x) (x + 10) = 0
x = 0 , x = - 10

x= -10 or 0

by putting everything on the left side we get
x^2+10x=0
X(X+10)=0 (factoring)
this whole thing equals 0 if x=0 or if x+10=0, ie if x=-10

your solution should b x=0, or x= -10

x^2 + 10x = 0
x(x+10) = 0

x = 0 or -10

you are able to the two factor it or use the quadratic formula. To factor it, first locate 2 numbers that multiply to make sixteen and upload mutually to make 10. call those y and z. make the equation like right here: (x+y)(x+z)=0 -y is one answer, -z is the different This equation is a quadratic, meaning it follows the formula ax²+bx+c. Plug it into this, assigning a million as a, 10 as b, and sixteen as c. x= (-b±?b²-4(a)(c)) / 2a The plus or minus provide you with 2 solutions right here.

x^2 + 10x = 0
x(x + 10) = 0
x = - 10

Answer: x = - 10

Proof:
- 10^2 + 10(- 10) = 0
100 - 100 = 0

Remember that if you do something to an equation, do it to both sides of the equal sign.

See what would happen if you divide both sides by x.
