Obama needs press.
Hillary is grabbing it all.
Taking off his pin is controversial and got him some headlines.
When this runs out, he'll claim someone used the "N" word or he'll have someone take a shot and claim it's the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy.
Something like that.

I think Senator Obama is trying to say his actions matter far more than wearing a flag lapel. Wearing a flag lapel pin is pretty meaningless if you lie us into a war, keep lying to us about the war, spend us into a deficit, etc. The constant flag-waving becomes almost meaningless if there are no actions to back it up.

Obama's response to questions about why he wasn't wearing one was that wearing the pin had become a substitute for real patriotism, a way of fitting in that means nothing. The pin had become more of a dress code than symbol. He argued that a person's actions are what counts when discussing patriotism.
I think he's right.

he did not want making the flag pin a focal poin of the race. it is unlawful for the public and other politicians to berate the man over his religion, as doing that is unconstitutional, so now they find anything to discredit him for. it's dumb. who cares if wears a flag pin or not? i don't own one and iw ould not run out and buy one just cuz i'm campaiging.

He is saying that wearing the flag as an icon has lost its meaning. He is saying that rather than pretend to hide behind a "patriotic" icon, he would rather show you his patriotism by his actions. Actions speak louder than words.

I agree that actions should speak louder than pins. So, if anyone can tell me any of Husein's accomplishments, other that being a good looking black guy, that qualify him to be president, I would like to know!!!!

PEOPLE - it is a NON-issue!!!
For the love of Pete - there are individuals dying due to starvation in this nation, a war that is being fought for a personal vendetta, and criminals invading our nation, but yet thing they legally have the right to! A pin is a piece of jewelry!!! Nothing more! It is as significant as the earrings that Hillary chose not to wear yesterday!!!!

It's the Neo-cons frothing at the mouth over insignificant things again.
The closer to the election, the more froth.
But its just froth.
All that 'indignant and outraged' froth at Fox News!
Quite amusing really.

The media overblew it. I don't like his politics but even I can say the media blew it out of proportion.
