lus..I gave you a thumbs up because I feel so sorry for you..because you've never had this experience or bond with a pet. You really and truly don't know what you're missing.

I'll tell 1 of mine...One time I was thinking about that verse "stop&smell the roses"..within a second my dog went over & smelled some artificial roses I had in a basket on the floor.

My cat that always runs away from me and hates me to death jumped up on the chair to cuddle with me after I got home from finding out my father passed away. My mom couldn't believe it. I do believe they know.

well ya to some extent animals are sensitive to human emotions or at least strong emotions so your feelings probably give away what your thinking for example the fact that some animals can smell fear is true to some extent when you get stressed or anxious the process your body goes through is picked up by the animal and it can tell what your feeling or in other words thinking [which is usually 'get the hell out of there' in most cases] its like the way a dog [among a varity of other animals the number will amaze you] can catch your sent on the wind and can tell when and what you ate [just an example im sure if a dogs trying to sniff you out what you ate is the last thing your mind] and can tell when your gonna get hungry or if your gonna get sick, animals [besides the fact that we are included in that category] arnt given enough credit for their intelligence and if traned and nutured it grows even more so

Well she is not a pet, but she is a dog that hangs around in front of our building for years.
I bet many people feed her. I gave her a piece of sausage a few days ago and she smelled it and turned away. And I said "Well, I never" or something like that (I didn't say it in English). And then she suddenly picked it up and ate it looking straight at me.
Maybe it was my thoughts, my tone of voice... maybe even the words but she obviously understood.

My dog knows what I'm thinking up to a point. She recognizes my expressions, actions and voice. In the same way I can tell when she's hungry(always). When she wants to go out and usually what for.She acts one way if she has to relieve herself.Another if there's a Deer outside, another for a squirrel, another for a passing dog.Neither one of us is psychic we just know each other. You're right animals know much more then we give them credit for.

Yes!
My dogs seem to know the difference between a trip to the kitchen for something to eat and something to drink.
And the big dog knows when I am thinking about going to the dog park because he goes and gets his leash and brings it to me.
The little dog knows when I am getting ready to go some where they can't go because she hides my shoes!

My horses always seem to know when the vet is coming and make them selfs hard to find. They like going for rides on local trails and will be standing at the gate waiting then!

Pets can pick up on body language just like anyone else. Combine that with the idea that we would like our pets to be able to read our minds and you have a situation that is ripe for some creative mental processing. In other words, if you want to believe it enough, then you can perceive your pet reading your mind if you want to (even if they aren't).

Yes, at times it does feel as though my cats know what I am thinking. I sure know what they want just by them looking at me.
