And I always try to make homemade old fashioned treats that were around during my childhood and that of my parents. Usually I have hand dipped carmel apples, homemade sugar cookies decorated in Halloween shapes, apple cider, Hot chocolate (homemade), homemade fudge, hand made chocolate covered various bonbons etc... Do you have any ideas for any others? Oh... I do popcorn balls too. Any one remember anything else from years ago?

Ms Crone, if you have the space and are alowed to do bonfires. Make a mockup of John Barleycorn and ceremonially burn him in effigy for bringing an end to summer and calling forth the Winter. That is a favorite at MY parties, Especially when I add a few pyrotechnics to Mr Barleycorn. The youngsters just love to watch his head explode and eyes glow bright white.

my parents really didn't do things like that so i have gone a little overboard with my kids. i turn the shop (i am self employed) into a giant haunted house and and usually have a D.J. so my daughter and all her school friends can dance and have a safe, great time. we usually have from 50 to 75 kids every year. because i am so tall i almost always get to dress up as frankenstine's monster....it's either that or a red wood tree.LOL it can be fun being a giant. LOL
but i like the sound of your parties! can i come?

Prairie Crone girlfriend!!!!! How do you manage to make all that stuff that is PURE SUGAR and not eat it????? Holy Frijole! You are a brave soul, Gungadin.

Well, I had a tradition that my old boyfriend and I did for Halloween parties. We would make bourbon balls. The main ingredients were crushed Vanilla Wafers, very strong bourbon, powered sugar, and some cocoa. They were to die for yummy. These days I wouldn't touch one, because I don't drink booze and I don't eat sugar. Ah for the good old days...
