So did (does) my husband, but about 2 years ago when we were having a rough time with extended family and such. So I convinced him that getting a cat would be therapeutic. A neighbor lady of ours, her cat just had a litter of kittens. I convinced him to go with me to visit her and see the kittens and he really fell for a male Siamese. I told him that if he wouldn't mind us keeping him, that he could name him.
He named him "Ninja". He is a beautiful Siamese cat with big blue eyes.
My husband says all the time to Ninja...."you're lucky I like you. You're the only cat I ever liked Ninja". and he does, he loves that cat.

to commence, apologizing approximately his cat could soften him up slightly. Then tell him which you adore your pup, and you do no longer desire him to hate it. you adore your pup like he enjoyed his cat. If he's thinking of working over an animal together with his automobile via fact he would not like it then possibly he's not authentic for you! and whether he makes you do away with the pup, how are you going to experience approximately you hubby afterwords? He looks like a controlling style of guy. you may no longer experience to blame. good success!

You need to respect his feelings. Get a small dog, there are thousands out there now.
My husband and I have a small home...2 bedroom. Our 2 dogs are our life. They are a Cocker Spaniel and a Jack Russel. They both about 18 lbs and do very well.

I hate cats too. If tables were turned you'd want him to respect the fact that you didn't want a cat in the house.

Respect his wishes, or drive a wedge of resentment between you and him. Do you really want to damage your relationship over a cat? Also, if he really hates cats, he could abuse it, and nobody wants that.

I would want a pet too. Have you thought about a ferret. Cats are cleaner.. go to the pet store and see how he reacts you would not want him to be mean to the cat.

What about a budgie? You can train them to talk and let them out of their cage....good for an apartment.
