"The fact that the Jews are monotheistic is no longer a real issue these days. Contemporary anti-Semitism by and large comes from Christians and Muslims, who consider themselves monotheists. The Jew-hatred these days stems from different sources than in antiquity.
"There is, however, another parallel with antiquity. The otherness of the Jews played a large role in their image among Greek and Roman circles. That also is the case in our own times. Anti-Semites perceive the Jews as being different, and this leads them to see them as dangerous. This imagined danger leads to hatred of the Jews.
"One horrifying aspect of the history of Jew-hatred, namely, the twenty-three centuries of anti-Semitism that we know of, is the tenacity of so many motifs such as that Jews are dangerous and enemies of humankind. These ideas are and always have been demonstrably false. They are, however, much alive up to the present day. It is apparently impossible to break through these perceptions.
"The image of the Jew as an enemy is grotesque and easily exposed as pure nonsense. Still these images are kept alive among many millions of people all over the world. That this is possible is one of the most frightening aspects of the history of Jew-hatred."

It started with them being monotheistic. Most of the cultures around them were polytheistic and when you're different people have a tendency to not like you.
The Jews refused to worship Roman emperors as gods and so they were persecuted by the Romans.
Many early Christians felt that the Jews were responsible for the death of Jesus and looked down on them.
There was conflict between the followers of Mohammed and the native Jews in Medina and that carried over into other generations.
Medieval Christians were unable to lend money, so they brought in Jewish families to serve as bankers. Some charged high interest (usury) and were later persecuted and had their belongings confiscated.
More recently the formation of the state of Israel has caused more hatred, especially with those living in that region.
Unfortunately racial hatred is passed through families, so some probably have no idea why that hate Jews but since their parents did they feel it's a necessity.
Totally agree with you, no one should be judged based on ethnicity or religion.

I've asked myself the same questions. All I can come up with is, that some people are not happy unless the are hating someone else for some stupid reason. Or they want to put someone else down to build themselves up. Sometimes a person is raised that way.
It they think about it long enough, we all share a common trait. It doesn't matter if you believe in god, or believe in the ape theory, The truth of that statement cant be argued.
It's wonderful to hear from someone who thinks the way you do. It can be discouraging to see so much hate in the world. Don't let it get you down.

"The French hate the Germans and the Germans hate the Dutch, and I don't like anybody very much."
That is a line from a popular song in the early 1960s.
Hatred of those not like us is not uncommon.

Christians have always hated jews. They call them christkillers.
Also the jews kept themselves apart as they considered themselves god's chosen people and considered other races inferior refusing to interbreed with them. This made them an easy target.

I wish more people in the world were like you. I don't know why people are such haters to Jews, blacks, gays--anybody! Such a waste of energy, being a bigot.
