I am a high school student, and i am in advanced classes. Throughout school i have found that i learn alot better and know much more by sitting in class and "watching intentivly" as compared to taking notes. i just sit in my desk and listen without a peice of paper on my desk, while everyone else is busy taking notes on everything the teacher says. Yet, i do much better then them and can recall content much faster(though sometimes not as accurate). Most of the time, they come to me for advice on the class! I am not asking if this is weird, even though i don't know anyone who does this, but i want to know if it is "normal" or posibly unique. And how is it possible that the guy with no notes does as well, and sometimes better then the guy with a notebook of pure notes? Also, i should mention that i usually don't study or review.

People have different ways of learning, most are left-brained.
You are probably right-brained, very graphic/visual oriented.
This is your special gift, trust & value it.
But there may be times or subjects where this doesn't work.
As you get older, this may not work as well for you.
So it would be good to crack a book & take notes.

Lucky you! You must have a very good memory! As for not taking notes, you are probably an auditory learner, which means you learn best by listening, and not as well by seeing your notes. I find most people are visual learners, and they learn best by seeing. There are also kinasthetic and tactile learners. It probably also helps that you are listening more clsoely than anyone else, but with some subjects that involve steps, like math or science, it is nice to have notes to refer back to shoudl you become slightly uncertain about the sequence of steps.

Learning is different with every person, but usually you learn better when you listen and pay attention instead of taking notes because you are actually hearing the words said to you instead of them going in one ear, being written down, and then go out the other.

Different people learn differently. You sound as if you learn best by hearing. Others are more visual or kinesthetic. It is a wonderful strength that you have. It is good you recognize it.
