some people pretty have their guitar by the crotch...and some people have it near the waist

I agree with bclovis. Most of the time when people sling that guitar down really low it's just for looks.
It depends on your goals. If you're more concerned with looking cool that playing well then I suppose hanging that guitar down low is fine.
I strongly recommend against doing that though since it puts your body in a less than optimum position for playing. These things may not seem like much but the more good things you can get going for you the better your playing can get. Just ask any chiropractor or anyone who uses the Alexander method!

well like bclovis(or wutever) said: it is a lot of style.some peopel haver longer arms and hang them really low. if you notice the people that hang their stuff the lowest are usually bass players. thats because they are usually a more lanky bread of being haha. but really if you are "built like a guitarist" you shouldnt have your guitar too low because it will catch up to you. your arms should be at a good 90 degree angle while playing. this is because your wrist has to be pretty much straight. if not you develop something that is or is similar to carpal tunnel syndrome. no lie. but im pretty sure the risk is just the same as typing.... but lots of people get it from typing sooooo......idk. but for practicing you should deffinetly keep it pretty mid range because you will find you can be more technicly (i cant spell) proficient and your fingers will flow more freely. good luck homie

A lot of time it's simply style over substance. Some people wear it where they wear to look cool; others because it's comfortable. Overall, it's a comfort thing. I wear mine pretty much in the middle. but there really is no right or wrong way. Knock yourself out.
