Sept 1, 1939: Germany invades Poland
Sept 2, 1945: Japan surrenders aboard the USS Missouri

How ironic, almost 6 years to the date....

Began:
World War 2 began on September 1,1939.
The United States entered World War 2 on December 7, 1941.

Ended:
The war with Germany ended on May 8, 1945.
This day was called V-E Day.
V-E meant "victory in Europe."
The war with Japan ended on August 15, 1945.
This day was called V-J Day.
V-J meant "victory in Japan."

it started when germany attacked poland. then france and great britain declared war on germany. it ended after japan surrendered in 1945
