That depends on the chat that is being used. Do you mean chat.yahoo.com or IRC or a MUD?

Usually you can just put it like it is in your address bar (after you go there). In other words, if you are trying to send them to www.example.com then you would need to type it as http://www.example.com

You might notice that it works the same way here. Look at how it treated the two things differently. Try not to put anything right in front and right in back since it can mess it up. Such as (http://www.example.com)
