The problem in basketball is that the basket height has been and probably will remain at 10ft. With people growing taller every year, the 2 pt lay up or the dunk are becoming routine. Its is hard to tell if the talent has increased when you have 7ft players get the easy pass and lay ups. As for being short, I take nothing away from those people who have exceptional abilities and can get around the height factor. I like hockey.

height is never an excuse on why someone isnt good at basketball
i know alot of shorter people who are some of the best basketball players ive seen in a long time
the only thing that explains not being good at basketball is not working hard enough and not putting the time in to get better

Let's just say that lack of height is a big disadvantage in basketball from a competitive standpoint. But it won't hinder any person from developing into a good player, skills or talent-wise.

Height does play a role in basketball but you can be small and still shoot good in basketball, just a matter of how skilled you are.

Makes very little difference but can't seperate you with the pool of tall players or medium-sized. Look at these great players. Earl Boykins
Nate Robinson
Spud Webb
Muggsy Bougues

Nope. It can play a part, you can be smaller and physically unable to matchup with somebody but you can overcome your height or strength problem by improving say your shot, jump, speed, ballhandling, etc. I did. I'm 5 ft 8 and ususally had to match up with six footers in HS. I could. And I did all those things to match up with them. So in short, not completely, but partly.

the shorter the player the quicker she/he is. The quicker she/he is the harder the team has keeping up with her/him. The harder it is to keep up, the more the opponent will fall. And yes even though a team is always a sucker for a tall guy, when have we seen that to be 100% effective? The quick, short point guard will always be the glue to the team.

Height does have somewhat of thing to do with it because the taller you are the more afraid people are of you, most of the time, but height isn't most of it its your work ethnic, you have to work hard and then work even harder, some of the best players in the game weren't that tall.
