-his woman always kisses his balls & it makes his "putter" stand high.- (anyways, I heard this last night, does it sound good the way it is or how would you say this joke?)

That was an accidental quote from famous golfer Arnold Palmer on the Johnny Carson show years ago. Johnny asked him what he did for good luck before a big tournament. He said his wife kissed his balls. He meant his golf balls but it came out the wrong way and Johnny said "I bet that really makes your putter stand up".

It's a badly marred retelling of something that actually happened on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

His guest was the wife of a famous golfer, Arnold Palmer I believe. Johnny asked if she did anything to give him luck before a golf game. She said "Yes, I kiss his balls." Johnny said "I bet that makes his putter stand up."

This was in the days of live television, before the tape delay was invented.

reminds me of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in the 1970's when golfer Anold Palmer was a guest. Johnny asked him if he did anything supersticious before a game and he said "no, but my wife kisses my balls" (meaning his golf balls) to which Carson replied "i'll bet that makes your putter stand on end"

It could be said either way, as a saying:
Why does an athelete win his games WHEN his wife kisses his balls& and makes his putter stand high.

OR

Why does the athelete always win his games?
because his woman always kisses his balls & it makes his "putter" stand high

i didn't get it at first... but a putter is in golf. so the question should be more like...
"why does tiger woods always win his games?"
and the punch line...
"because his woman always kisses his balls and makes his putter stand high."
