It would be a very empty place. I know there are people who don't like animals or don't want pets, but I just can't imagine it. We went 20 years with no pets, but once we were retired and could devote ourselves to them, we made up for lost time by getting the entire litter of kittens.

No. I have a cat and had a dog for many years. But, I did live in a place where one never heard the song of a single bird. Apparently, when we began the invasion of Okinawa in 1945, we led off with massive aerial and naval bombardment. The birds native to the island took flight. I think they put it in the DNA of their offspring not to go near that island because of the danger. Over fifty years passed and there were still no native species of birds to be found on the island. The only ones we saw were hawks from Siberia who came south to "winter over". Since the battle began on April 1st and was over by July, the hawks were unaware of what went on during that period.
I've been told that in the past few years, some species have trickled back to take up habitat on the island. How lucky the current inhabitants of that island must be. They can hear the birds singing!

No way! Dogs and cats were part of my childhood and they're still in my life now. Couldn't imagine our home without them. Fish, birds, turtles and hamsters have also been part of the menagerie at various times. Now we just have Sox the cat, Lulu the Wonder Dawg, and Mr. Fish. Two cats from across the road consider this their second home and are always here at dinner time, without fail! Also feed the strays out in the woods behind our house and find homes for their babies whenever I can.
Felines....love that you took the whole litter!

We cannot live in a world without animals. We are interdependent. Plants, animals, and other organisms live in complimentary, mutually dependent relationship-webs in their habitats, each having its particular function. If we destroy part of the web, we likely destroy the other members dependent upon that web. If we destroy too much too fast, the systems cannot recover. Humans had better be careful about throwing too many life webs out of whack too quickly with their destructive behaviors. After reaching a certain threshold, the whole collapses.
As far as pets, I love my kitty Mr M. He's a rascally guy, a gorgeous street kitty, now happily adopted and adapted.

Oh no!!! I love my animals, they are there to love me unconditionally, no matter how bad life gets. We have rescued 6 cats and a dog. We also have a couple little possums who come out to eat at night. I have 3 grandcats and 2 granddogs (my daughters). My mom never really thought she wanted a pet, but ended up with a cat. You should hear her now, you'd think he was the most wonderful little guy in the world.

Nature is at war with nature, this is how life works; competing for every available niche. Humans are just one more species in competition with all the rest. We are special in the sense we worry about fairness, conservation and conflict. Even so our superior intellect doesn't seem to prevent nature and our part in it carrying on as usual. I don't think the world would be better off without us; it would simply be different.

no, I can't-cats are my favorites too with dogs running second. Currently, I have 6 cats but as far as I can tell you can count on a pet to give you undivided attention and they only ask for the same in return whereas humans expect more. My cats have by far given me more in my lifetime than any regular family member has or ever will. I can count on them, I can't family!

As a wildlife artist you can bet what my ans. is to this Q.
Being that I get along with animals better then humans-animals have no egos, I would be totally lost without them.
I love to hike & my little corgi goes with me. We both love the critters we meet, even though she sometimes hides between my legs at the sight of some of the critters.
No! I can't imagine life without critters, not at all.

No, I can't imagine that at all! We've had many pets over the years, and we've loved them all very much. Our little dog passed away last year, now it's just the two kitties. They are great companions. Pets are a source of unconditional love.

I have two female cats, and growing up we had 50 pigeons, 9 hamsters, a cat and a dog, all at the same time, so no i couldn't imagine not having any animals around. They are great company, and my two cats are very entertaining with their antics and when i go to bed , they go to bed with me.
