1. If you are getting good grades, you will be well prepared.

2. Most departments offer one or two introductory classes that you take before taking more specialized classes. These introductory classes are the lower division classes. They are usually taken by Freshman and Sophomores. The more advanced classes are usually taken by Juniors and Seniors & are referred to as Upper Division Classes.

3. Many schools have an honors program and offer special classes for students in the program -- or special, smaller classes for the lower division classes. Not all schools have these programs. You can find out by looking at their web pages.

4. Professors and graduate students love students who work hard, contribute in class and ask intelligent questions.

5. Graduate students usually only teach introductory classes or act as teaching assistants for more advanced classes. They may teach a recitation section of a larger course. In these classes, the professor usually teaches two or three classes a week to 100-200 students & then the students meet once a week in small groups with the TA. Community colleges have no graduate students teaching -- because they have no graduate students.

If you really are doing well in HS, you should think about applying to four year schools out of HS>
