Just wondering from anyone who knows how old is a baby when you can notice if they have naturally curly hair or not?

Can most people tell right away or does it come as the baby is a little older? Just wondering, thanks ;)

It depends on when the kid grows its hair.

Good question! You can tell immediatly what their "baby hair" will look like, if they are born with any. Baby hair is not nessecarily the hair they'll end up with as a tot. For instance my brother was born with perfect blond ringlets that turned to straight brown hair by 3 and straight black hair by teenage years. Many babies are born with ringlets. Many babies also loose those ringlets by around 2-3. Many parent's cut their baby's hair and find the ringlets don't grow back. I heard that story from many of my student's parents when I taught preschool ages 1.5-3.

It is nearly impossible to tell for awhile. Many children's hair grows in curly on the ends and as soon as that first haircut comes along - whoops! - there are all the curls lying at your feet on the floor. This is probably where the custom of keeping that first curl from the first haircut was derived. And then again - my youngest had lovely straight red hair at birth and up until he was around 3 when suddenly he was blessed with a headfull of cowlicks and curls in his still beautiful red hair! lol! Yes - I still LOVE it!

How this helps

That depends. When I was a baby I had curly hair. Now I am 14 and have straight hair. My cousin was the same way. You have to wait and see.

my son was born with slightly curly hair, then it fell out and when it grew back in the top hair was straight and the hair on the back of his head is really curly. It took until he was around 6 months old for his permanent hair to grow in.

If the baby has hair you can pretty much tell right away. Also, look at the parents and grandparents. After the first bath the babs hair will show it's color and texture. Bald babies are another story. Each ones hair grows at it's own rate.

you cant always tell if they will keep their curly hair or not because it can be born with curly hair and then after they start getting older the curls can fall out. it usually depends on how the hair on the kid is growing also.

I have 4 children. The hair they were born with (curly or not) was not necessarily the hair they had after about age 4. It may or may not change, then it may change again during puberty!

When my daughter was two she had very curly hair. Now she is five and is straight. I thought her hair would stay curly but after a few years is just wasn't ment to be.

I am not sure if there is any specific age, however when my son (6 months) was born, he had straight hair and I would say within 3 months, it became very very tight tight curls. So, I would say to give it a couple months.
