like sitting in the front passenger seat of a car(besides the fact that its the most dangerous position in a car accident), like gym class(lol jk), and about animal testing(its not like u dont use lotion or soap, all animal-tested things), but then they dont care about important things like the world events and global warming...?

Because human beings are spoiled, and we care about stupid things like sitting in the front seat, just to say we did, we don't think about risks, and common sense is a rarity now a days. If you're one of the few not blinded by pettiness.... Congratulations... we are rare.

Consider this: what might be silly to them could be very important to you. Also, many don't worry about what seems to be the important things because, realistically, they have no control over it. For example, what can the average citizen do about genocide in another country?
What good will it do to protest over here when that government (or whomever is doing it) will ignore them because we are so far away?

If, in the future you think people don't care, remember the outpouring of aid that happened after that tsunami in Indonesia. the average person had control over what they could do.

it's the problems that people could see happening in a short term that freaks them out. when you hear stories about car accidents they fear for they're own lives. but then something like global warming, i actually know idiots that are in denial about this and basically because it's not something immediate, but it'll take time before it occurs and that doesn't bother people.

the reason we have people so concerned about so many minor and petty things is because we are so advanced as a society. It is no longer a day to day struggle to stay alive, food is basicly provided to us constantly, we don't have to make our own shelter constantly, ect. things that would naturaly take up our time do not anymore, so people devote there time to random, and often pointless causes.

They can comprehend the little things and know how they affect their lives. Great big, enormous stuff like global warming is too big for them to contemplate or believe in, and they don't see it impacting them here and now.
