Trolling is as old as the internet. It comes from the fishing technique called trolling, which involves dragging bait along the sea bottom.
So what an internet troll does (if they are any good) is post a contentious message some place that will get everyone wound up and create a lot of traffic refuting the claim.
The biggest know troll of all time was a usenet post called "It's the GUNS, stupid" which was like shooting fish in a barrel, arguing gun laws with thick red-necks. Well the posting went back and forth for years.
The problem now is that it's all been done to death, so when anyone comes on the internet anywhere posting agitating comments about anything they are labelled as a troll right away, even if they are not

Actually it is a lot like the story of Billy Goats Gruff. The trolls disrupt and agitate as much as they can to try and get your attention or at least a reaction. It is sort of the same entertainment you get from pulling the wings off of flies. That pretty much defines a troll.

it rather is somebody who posts rubbish. Like a query that's fairly a promoting, for occasion. Or a query that's no longer a query in any respect. Or see Esmerelda's answer. (there is one approximately this night noted as Smitty.)

Trolls are users on the internet who post questions or posts on the net in the hope of getting a negative reaction and sparking a fight.
eg. all religous people are idiots. etc

I'm not sure if they have a more specific definition on Yahoo Answers, but trolls are people who spend their time on the 'net making a nuicance of themselves just because they get a kick out of it. They're "trolling" the 'net.

ppl that has nothing but time on there hands and to give others a false report so the person can be reported and get a violations.even ones that are jealous,don't like you and can be very mean and have sarcastic answers.
