When I usually hear the words "Personal freedoms." My first thought is, lack of accountability, chosing an amoral path. Lack of conscious. But that usually depends on what the contents are of when it's brought up. I know people are proud of their personal freedoms today and thrive on it in this society. Look around! But I believe that personal freedoms are becoming the silent killer. Were taking our society apart ince, by ince. Because a lot of the times, one persons personal freedoms can have an impact on you. Some might agrue that. Fare and understandable. But anyway. Do think personal freedoms really are the silent killer?

Do think we're gonna end destroying ourselves and going over borad with our personal freedoms? Cause every new generation knows how to push the limits. Sorry if this is a vague question. There's only so much room. . .

Thought?

I believe that "personal freedoms" coincides with the modern existential notion of a "personal morality". In other words, those who believe that morals are subjective and feeling based, will ultimately create their own set of rules to live by.

Your idea is compelling because this concept, which I believe is infecting our society, denies objective Truth and supports a pluralism of morality, which ultimately leads to chaos.

In a sense I do. I answered a question earlier dealing with the issue of assisted suicide. The question pertained to if it should be legalized, I said no. I said no because too many individuals would twist that idea until it pardoned serial killers. It seems any idea once moral has been twisted by the few and then wrapped in the blanket of personal freedom. As you said there is only so much room...and too much to say.

look, what one would consider moral is totally subjective and opinion based. most things, like murder, theft, child abuse- those things aren't personal freedoms, they're crimes and THOSE are the things that contribute to societal downfall. personal freedoms include choosing where you want to live, what college to go to, what fast food you want or don't want to eat, what doctor you go to, how many children you have or don't have, what kind of car you want to buy. generally, those things don't impact people in a way that seriously impacts anyone's livelihood. you need to be more specific on what you mean by personal freedom. if someone is gay, for example, do you think that somehow infringes on your life? and if so, how? that fact that a rape victim gets an abortion infringes on your life how? you should feel lucky that you have the freedom to choose to live your life the way you do. would you really be happy living in a society that told you what to watch on tv or what you could look at on the internet? do you want to be told what to wear and what music to listen to? if you're against personal freedom, then you're against thinking for yourself and being able to make decisions that pertain to your own life. now, if you decide that your personal freedom tells you to go shoot up a liquor store and kill people because you don't agree with alcohol consumption, then yes, that's a problem, but nobody is technically free to murder anyone. you do that, you lose all freedom. i think you have little to no idea what it really means to have freedom that so many people in other countries would envy you for.
