Bought the HP dv6000 limited edition laptop this summer because I loved the way it looked and thought it would fit my needs. But I have started playing Lord of the Rings Online and
find it below par. I have it optimized for the game but the graphics are not great and I am laggy all the time. I have a desktop with the same internet connection and it is fine. So it is not the internet speed. Can I upgrade this thing or is it a loss? Thanks

as far as ram, it is usually pretty easy to do it, even yourself. But, its always good to take it somewhere like circuit city or compusa where they know what they're doing.
now to the video card:
it depends what kind it has now. If it is embedded to the motherboard (such as an Intel gma graphics chip) then its pretty difficult to do it. But if it is an nvidia or other brand graphics card, then usually the same people that replace your ram should be able to change the video card.
hope this helped.

You typically cannot upgrade a video card on a laptop.

Upgrading RAM shouldn't be a problem but you won't be upgrading the video chip (which is probably causing the problems in your game anyway).

It's probably a loss for playing your game, just use your desktop for any game that your laptop can't handle.

Call the HP 800# and ask them how much they charge to do the work. They will do it right. They will also tell you what you really need to upgrade to get the results you are looking for. Easy to spend a lot of money and not get desired results. Plus, next time you buy, over buy, as we really don't know what is coming in the tech field.

Go to the HP web site; it will tell you how much RAM (and what type) it comes with or can be added. If you buy $100 worth, they'll ship it for free.

you can upgrade it but upgrading might cost alot if you get someone to do it for you. if you do it by youself you have a chance of messing up but you can save a lot. you should install more ram and install a beter video card
