I have a split level house and the % for pretty much the whole house has been between 55-60%. Do you think i need a dehumidifer or is there something else i can do to make it less humid. The temp in my house is 72, so a little too cool for AC and a little too warm for heating...

55% in the summer is good and if you have a cold winter ( less than 35 ) than 35-40% is good.

In damp and dark areas such as a basement would be a must. The 55-60% in a lit living space would not be a serious concern Although, some individuals prefer to use a dehumidifier periodically in their living space for easier breathing. This decision will also be based on your area, humid or not. Right now, it seems to be a personal choice.

A dehumidifier will take the moisture out of your house. A by-product of that function is that the air may feel a little cooler.

It won't make your house cooler, though.

Using my husbands sign in because it won't let me add anything. But the reason I am concerned is because it says mold can form in humidity above 50%

Turn the furnace fan on "RUN", meaning constantly on. This will help move air around and may drop a little. If it drops to low, then turn the fan off.

55 percent is a good humidity! I wouldn't waste your time or money!

If you aren't sure you need one you probably don't. It only will drive your electric bill sky high anyway.
