Yes it is. In Australia anyway. It's very good for stings, tiny bites and amazing for clearing sinuses. You put it on a tissue and just inhale. I was bitten by three white tail spiders, who cause a fungal infection. I am still battling with it,on my arms, where they bit me. But I swap Tea Tree Oil and an anti-fungal cream. Is it not available in the US? Because I saw an advert for a cream made with Tea Tree Oil on the net, and they were an American Company.

IF the FDA approved it, do you have any idea how much it would suddenly cost the citizens of the USA? It's already expensive enough. I have used it since the 60's for a variety of ailments. I'm not sure what it is classified as, but the germs & organisms don't live very long after the oil is applied to them! They just want to leave the scene ASAP. That's good enough for my needs. It could be misused by people who would mix it with the "acceptable drugs" that are currently approved to make someone a small fortune~!

Tea tree oil is OTC here in the states, I used to buy it all the time in the 80's and 90's I use Tei-Fu now. It clears up my nose in a hurry. Use Vicks for an anti-fungal on your feet or hands, or a mild clorox solution, both work.

I live in the states, and I have used Tea Tree Oil over an almost two year span, to stop toenail fungus. It still remains on
two stubborn little toes, but the others it has cured. I haven't
applied it for some time since I ran out. Toenail fungus is
very stubborn and can take much longer to cure I've read.

I have used it many times and it has worked for me, but my husband cannot stand the smell. I have no problem finding it at my local health food store here in Utah. I have found that peppermint also works well for my needs and my husband likes the scent of that. Dr. Bonner's peppermint soap also helped to get rid of his (dare I say?) foot fungus that he caught during his Marine training.

Of course they wouldn't approve it. It is against the law to 'cure' yourself of any diseases using herbs. It is okay to use drugs that are the number 4 killer of Americans, but you can't use herbs.
